Michelle Ware-Ivy
Founder & Transformational Leader
Michelle, along with her late husband, Malcom Orlando Ivy, founded the Malcom Orlando Ivy Foundation after being deeply disturbed by the disproportionate impact of Multiple Myeloma on the Black community. Through their visionary leadership, the foundation’s mission is to amplify awareness and education, advance quality patient-centric care, and advocate for early screening, detection, and participation in clinical trials within the Black community.
As a dedicated care partner and in honor of her husband’s memory, Michelle promised Malcom she would be an intercessor for Multiple Myeloma in the African-American community to preserve his legacy. After Malcom’s passing, Michelle launched the Malcom Orlando Ivy Foundation (TMOIF) to amplify the voices of Black Multiple Myeloma patients. She has become a voice for the voiceless—representing countless others whose lives have tragically ended. To date, TMOIF continues to provide spiritual inspiration and raise awareness while working to eradicate Multiple Myeloma so that more lives can be saved.
Based in the greater Chicagoland area, Michelle is a Multiple Myeloma Change Agent. Her personal experience has fueled her commitment to addressing the alarming statistics and health disparities faced by the African-American community. Purpose-driven, she is advancing education and awareness programs for both the Black community and healthcare professionals to better recognize the signs and symptoms of Multiple Myeloma. Her immediate goal is to reduce instances of symptom dismissal, misdiagnoses, and delayed diagnoses, which disproportionately affect Black patients. She is determined to confront this devastating disease and prevent others from experiencing similar delays in treatment or the loss of loved ones.
